Planning
The first step in planning a funeral is to contact a funeral home. The funeral home will then contact the parish office to help you schedule a meeting with one of our priests and our Director of Music to plan the funeral liturgy of your loved one. Our priests are also available to meet for spiritual counselling.
You are welcome to use any funeral home you are comfortable working with. As a courtesy for those unsure of who to contact we can recommend Mountcastle Funeral Home.
Reception
Losing a loved one is always difficult. The volunteers of the Funeral Receptions Ministry seek to serve parishioners by seeing to the details involved in creating a reception for family and friends of the deceased.
Volunteers prepare the Fellowship Hall for families to gather, to share, reminisce and remember the life of their loved one. They set tables with linens and flowers; and prepare the buffet tables for food, dessert and beverages donated by Seton Lake Ridge parishioners.
If you would like to assist in this ministry or to donate a dish for a funeral reception, please contact the Parish Office.

“At the death of a Christian, whose life of faith was begun in the waters of Baptism and strengthened at the Eucharistic table, the Church intercedes on behalf of the deceased because of its confident belief that death is not the end, nor does it break the bonds forged in life. The Church also ministers to the sorrowing and consoles them in the funeral rites with the comforting Word of God and the Sacrament of the Eucharist.” (Order of Christian Funerals, no. 4)
