Day 9: Via Dolorosa | Emmaus

Today we had the wonderful opportunity to see the Lithostrotos in the Chapel of the Flagellation where Jesus was condemned to death by crucifixion. Here we were able to carry a large wooden cross along the Via Crucis to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and following this, we celebrated 10AM Mass at the Chapel of the Bl. Sacrament in the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre. After Mass, we visited the Empty Tomb of Christ and explored the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre, explored the Old City, visited the Crusader Church of St. Anne, and explored the Pool of Bethesda. 

After all these wonderful experiences, we all took a break for individual lunches before continuing to one of the traditional Emmaus sites. Here we recalled the story in Luke’s Gospel where Jesus appeared to His disciples on the road after the Resurrection.
