Every Catholic Deserves to Know Their Story
The Catholic Faith Explained

Father Bashista invites all parishioners to participate in this parish-wide study called “Every Catholic Deserves to Know Their Story.”  Join us any week!

Each week we will do one session.  Each session has a 30-minute video presentation on FORMED.ORG and a FREE downloadable pdf participant guide which gives a nice review of each session as well as a questions for reflection.

Mother Seton Food Pantry
Household Essentials Drive

The Corona Virus’ financial impact on families has resulted in our own Mother Seton Food Pantry experiencing a marked increase in the amount of visitors from the surrounding Lake Ridge community.

We will need your ongoing support to continue our efforts to help our neighbors in need. So much of what contributes to a family’s supermarket expenses are non-food essentials, such as personal care items and cleaning products. With this in mind, we are expanding the space of the Mother Seton Food Pantry and collecting household essentials such as those listed below.

Because our pantry only stocks non-perishables, we also need gift cards to any supermarket or pharmacy, Walmart, or Target. And, of course, the Mother Seton Food Pantry always welcomes non-perishable food donations! No glass jars, please!

Household essentials donations may be placed in the Mother Seton Food Pantry bins in the Fellowship Hall, Gift card donations may be placed in the drop box on the inside door of the Parish Office Reception Area or mailed to Betty Maher, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 12807 Valleywood Drive, Lake Ridge, VA 22192. Questions? Contact Betty at b.maher@setonlakeridge.org or 703.494.4008, ext. 145. Thank you for your generosity!

Seven Sisters Apostolate
New Ministry!

The Seven Sisters Apostolate is a call to strengthen the Church by ensuring that a
Holy Hour is prayed each day of the week for the sole intention of a specific priest or bishop—a “holy wasting” (cf. Mt. 26:10) or lavishing of prayer for his deeper  conformity to Christ.

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish would like to start a group (or two… or three…) But to start we need help.

Please prayerfully consider becoming part of this very important ministry.

A Seven Sisters group begins when at least seven women respond to a call to the mission of the apostolate.

  • The initial recipient of a Seven Sisters group should be their parish pastor. After the pastor has a committed group, subsequent groups may be formed for others, such as the parochial vicar, a retired priest, a priest serving in a non-parish assignment, or a bishop.
  • Each member commits to a Holy Hour on a distinct day of the week, thus covering a complete week.
  • This generous commitment of one hour per week of prayers is asked for a peried of one year, but can remain open-ended.

To learn more about Seven Sisters Apostolate visit their website at sevensistersapostolate.org.

Knights of Columbus
KOVAR Collection

ANNUAL KOVAR COLLECTION: MAY 2020

Every year around this time, you would see the smiling faces of our SEAS Knights of Columbus volunteers collecting for their KOVAR charity after each Mass and at the local grocery stores and handing out Tootsie Rolls in thanks.  The KOVAR collection specifically serves people in the state of Virginia with Intellectual Disabilities.  However, COVID-19 has impacted many of the Knights efforts to raise money this spring for their Council KOVAR drive.

The Knights of our Council 8183 understand the strain and the stress for families associated with this pandemic. However, life goes on and the needs are great for those in our communities that suffer from Intellectual Disabilities. The Knights would like to   ask for your kind donations this year. You can donate in one of three ways. You can write a Check out to the Knights of Columbus KOVAR and in the comments section enter our Council Number 8183. The check can be sent either to the State KOVAR Treasurer or our SEAS Council Financial Secretary.
